The 30 second promo above was created by A&D senior, Jeff Christy, and was one of the first PLAY promos to air on Michigan Television and Michigan Channel.
Our logo, PLAY, is an allusion to the School of Art & Design’s downtown gallery called WORK. PLAY is a gallery for time-based work, only our space is here, on the web, and on TV.
All of the graphics and design elements for PLAY are created by A&D students. Educationally, PLAY is an innovative, real world project that coalesces the creative energy of the School with the broad reach of the Public Television airwaves and the web.
The original design for the logo was created by A&D senior, Kevin Tudball, in consultation with professor of graphic design, Hannah Smotrich. This design was then animated into various television logos by Heidi Kumao’s Animation class of Winter 2006. Brendt Rioux’s color bar animation was chosen to be developed further by Jeff Christy and another A&D senior, Travis Schau.
